STOP PRESS– Babyslave will be making their last live appearance of 2007 at a very special “secret” gig in Nottingham on Saturday 14th December. Billed as A Nightmare Before Christmas (a post ATP party for Goths, ghouls and fools) – entry is restricted to invite only (to obtain one please enquire via our ever-friendly social networking site). Aside from Babyslave, the other live guests include John Callaghan (Warp), Benjamin Franklin (R.O.T. on (K-RAA-K)3), Sleaford Mods (Heavenly) and a rare solo appearance by our very own Miss Hypnotique. Please note: this will be the one and ONLY chance to see Babyslave perform their 2006 self titled debut LP in it’s entirety. Expect mistletoe, wine, Sodom and Gomorrah. This event will be filmed for posterity. Happy Christmas/We Don’t Need Your Revolution…

Our next live appearance will be at Manchester Loves Serge: a Mancunian Multimedia tribute to the late, great Mr Gainsbourg. From the promoter's website: "Manchester: International Bright Young Thing, tips its' cap to the genius of SERGE GAINSBOURG.
Multitudinous Live bands interpret a song of choice from a back catalogue that takes in five decades of stylish arrangements for the international Jukebox. Artfully punctuated by DJs spinning the best of old and new euro classics, 60s YE-YE girls, French pop, loungecore, northern soul, bluebeat, indie, electronica and punk funk..."
The event takes place on Sunday 11th November at the Ruby Lounge. More details (stagetimes, tickets etc) will be available here soon.

News Overload! The gig at Subterfuge was suitably rocking - we basically turned everything up to 11 and danced our way around the first album while trying out a few new pop-classics (pictures courtesy of Mr Paul Shields in the photo section). Album #2 is coming along nicely: new tracks including Boys On Demand, Hot Wolves and Erase Yourself are all sounding great (and, in some cases quite a departure from our previous material!) Charlie is also proving to be a highly versatile addition to the team, adding vocals, violin, random
sample madness and a steady stream of inspirational prog/psyche/gamelan/grime to our rabid musical appetites. Miss Hypnotique has been busying herself with Theremin-related solo ventures (check out the new Babyslave Blog for details), while Dr Ladyboy is mostly locked away conjouring "evil shit" in the name of the new album. Watch this (web)space...

Other news? Where the fuck have you been? Babyslave are currently hard at work on album #2, which will hopefully be preceeded by an interim EP or two during the coming months. We are also working on some film-related projects, a couple of very exciting musical collaborations and (last but not least) a series of live assaults around the UK to spread the work, meet and greet and enrich the soul along the way. Details of all these will be announced soon.

The debut Babyslave album was released in December 2006 through Manchester’s Valentine Records: Here's some words (some of them ours, some by other kind individuals): Test One: 1950s barrow boys old skool gangster rap in - a role call of the virtuous and damned in a utopia: Hawaiian steel guitar and erotic feminist literature intone an Iraq war manifesto. A jaunt round the 'ol joanna with some meadows of milking maids to dark woods filled with the heavy scent of pine. Test Two: jazz music can and must be destroyed (ditto drum’n’bass): More moribund than The Mission: An Arabian Nights tale of warning against royal virgins' involvement with retailers of reptiles: Dark industrial four-to-the-floor that can only be described as 'heavy shit'. Re-enter reality with a sweet taste in your mouth. Quite.

Welcome home. Kicking off in June 2007 this is the virtual dwelling place of the UK-based art/music/visual collective known as Babyslave - on slightly less sunny days it also passes as the gateway to the Lair of Eros. To date, Babyslave have released one full length (eponymous) LP as well as a handful of singles, compilation tracks and live recordings. Details of these can be found in the discography section. Babyslave will also be making their first live appearance of 2007 with the Subterfuge Arts Group (alongside The Matinee Orchestra.
and Slipped Disco) on Friday 15th June at Islington Mill in Salford. Further details of this event can be found
here.
