Theremin
performance on James May's 20th Century, 2007
Miss Hypnotique appears like
a fleeting ghost on James May's 20th Century: The Teenager,
broadcast on BBC2, 24th July 07, playing Saint-Saens "The
Swan" on a short piece about the theremin.
Miss Hypnotique demonstrates the theremin on Channel 4 family
show, The New Paul O'Grady Show, 8th May 2006 with
a tribute to the sinking of the Titanic. I then attempt to
teach Paul and GMTV's Eamonn Holmes how to play 'Moon
River' (trainspotters note: it's the Jean-Jacques
Perrey & Gershon Kingsley version). Like Throbbing
Gristle, they lack discipline. The back story: censorship
at play here but I hope you'll agree, another minor subversion
of mainstream media.
This video clip is courtesy of Warwick Worldwide
and was taken from the filming of the online talent contest,
Me-Me-Me.**.
The track performed is an instrumental section of a piece
entitled 'Deja Vu', taken from the album "The
Hanging Garden",which is composed, produced
and copyrighted to Hypnotique, 2002. The lyrics of the song
relate to genocide, self-loathing, harmful mind control and
killing a member of your immediate family. It had a nice irony
when I performed this on a lunchtime celebrity chat show 'Loose
Lips' with Melinda Messenger. (read more about this experience
in the blog).
** Front bottom fanny farting won the actual contest
overall, but I hope you'll agree from the clip above that
Hypnotique was the vastly superior talent.
